American Patriot
Located at Veteran's Park - Broken Arrow, OK
About This Work
This seven-foot statue was dedicated in honor of all the servicemen and women from all branches of military service from Broken Arrow, OK. The likeness used for the statue is that of Captain Hank Mesiner. Captain Meisner served several tours of duty as a Non-com Marine Sergeant in Vietnam. After completing his second re-enlistment as a Marine, he joined the army to attend Officers Training School and later returned to Vietnam to serve additional tours of duty as an Army Officer. He subsequently achieved the rank of Captain and was honored with two Silver Stars for bravery. Captain Meisner was the epitome of a “soldier’s soldier,” one who tirelessly and bravely risked his life in our country’s defense.
The fund raising for this monument was almost single-handedly accomplished by one of his high school friends, who solicited small donations to assure that this brave soldier’s unselfish dedication was never forgotten. The statue resides in Veterans Park in Broken Arrow, OK.
