Medal of Honor Memorial
Located in the Woodlands - Houston, TX
About This Work
This 12-foot bronze and granite memorial was designed to honor all of the U.S. Marines from the state of Texas that received the Medal of Honor. The black granite base has the names of xxxxxx of those brave recipients of the First World War to the present. The bronze is a three-dimensional replica of the Eagle, Globe and Anchor emblem of the U.S. Marine Corps. Below that is a replica of the Medal of Honor. On one side is the emblem of the State of Texas and the other is the Marine Corps emblem.
This memorial statue is located at the Woodlands, TX and a ceremony is held annually at this site to celebrate and honor the U.S. Marine Corps on their birthday. The first dedication ceremony was held in a pouring rain and was attended by hundreds of people, none of which left while the band played and planes still flew over. It was a heart-warming experience for me personally, to meet four of the Medal of Honor recipients and have the opportunity to visit with such a dedicated group of devoted soldiers. Semper Fi!
