About This Work
This bronze sculpture of the “Maestro” was originally inspired as the result of a commission from the Board of Directors of the Greely, Colorado Philharmonic Orchestra. I was requested to create an inspirational bronze gift suitable for presentation to their long time maestro upon his retirement.

While the original sculpture was designed as a small maquette, I was further inspired to make it into a size suitable for the entrance or lobby of a performing arts center. The simplicity of the conductor's hand and wand, on a basic triangular black granite base, tells the viewer that they are in the presence of music. While the sculpture needs no formal title to express its message, I gave it the simple title of “Maestro."
