About This Work
This is a commission from a friend who wanted to present his son with a going away gift for college. The young man was a very good left-handed first baseman in high school, and while I had the opportunity to take his picture and measurements for a good likeness, the pose for the sculpture was taken from a photograph from one of his actual games. He truly exemplified “grace on first base.”
